Smallholder farmers in developing countries live off approximately one hectare of land. The income-generating opportunity from farming can be huge, but it is often only one part of a portfolio due to the great risk represented by relying on farming alone.
Food grown on these small plots of land is either sold to the surrounding community or exported as a commodity. Yet smallholder farmers lack the resources to compete with commercial-scale farms. Larger farms have access to resources to help sustain crops in the heat and drought that is prevalent in many places, such as parts of Africa.
At EzyLife, one of our newer ventures has been to develop two technologies specifically to help small family farms.
EzyDrip Irrigation Bucket Kit
EzyDrip is a drip irrigation system designed to save water, a valuable and limited resource. EzyDrip uses an elevated bucket filled with water. Gravity then takes the water through a pipe and delivers it directly to plant roots. With this system there is minimal water loss to evaporation or waste from not feeding the roots.
EzySeed Crop Inoculant
We are proud to offer EzySeed, a patented formula with trademarks in multiple countries, including Kenya, India and Mexico.
EzySeed is a trichoderma seed treatment that helps plants grow larger and faster. The bioactive ingredients allow for a perfect soil environment for roots to grow deeper and avoid fungi and other inhibiting factors. Deeper root systems lead to larger plants that are less dependent on surface water.
Since EzySeed is completely organic, it is appealing to farmers for health reasons, but especially because it facilitates the export of their crops without problems.
Farming is a critical way to help build economies in developing countries as well as provide sustainable food for the local communities.
